Family Alcohol & Drug

NOTE! Application forms are available below. Note that we can only accept applications from BC and Yukon at this time. Adults should fill out the FADP Intake – Adult  Application. Children require the FADP Intake – Dependant –  2016 Application.

The Family Alcohol and Drug Program is a 7 to 8 week program.  The family program accommodates parents and children with a  K-12 school and daycare for newborn to age 4 children.

The Family Program is non-smoking as is the entire centre. This correlates with our statement of purpose.

Cultural Component:

Families begin the day with drumming and sage and prayer. Families participate in sweats, pipe ceremonies and drum making.

Accommodations:

Families stay in units which have 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. Small families are expected to share kitchen units. Kitchen’s come fully equipped. All bedding and towels are also provided.

Meals:

Lunch and dinner are provided Monday thru Friday. For breakfast and weekend meals, families must provide grocery funds.

School/Daycare:
The family program has a School District# 27 run school. There is 1 teacher and 1 education assistant. All school age children are required to bring 7 weeks of school work with them.

Group Sessions:
During the day adults attend group sessions which cover a variety of topics. The topics may be geared specifically to the particular group but there are sessions that include: communication, self-esteem, gambling, nutrition and anger management and more.

Physical Activities:
Physical activity is encouraged at Nenqayni FitNation is provided weekly as well as Yoga Class. Families also have a gym equipped with workout equipment, and can enjoy volleyball, basketball, badminton etc.

Family members should attend expecting to participate fully in the overall program. A person unwilling or unable to engage in the program may be asked to leave until they are ready to fully participate.

Please submit applications as soon as possible for best selection of dates. There is always a waitlist. Applications accepted from BC & Yukon Territory only.

Note that completed applications must be sent in as soon as possible in order to be selected for upcoming intake dates. There is a waiting period for most groups.

Medications NOT permitted while in treatment:  Psycho-Stimulants, certain Opioids (Codeine -Tylenol 3), Sedative Hypnotics – Benzodiazepines, Barbituates.

Intake Coordinator - Family Drug & Alcohol Program

Joan has been at Nenqayni Wellness Centre since 1996, she brings her experience with both the Youth Program and the Family Program to her current position. Joan receives applications on a regular basis which keep her very busy. Joan is also assisting with various committees at Nenqayni Wellness Centre such as the Wellness Committee and organizing “Fun Day” for staff and clients. Joan is also a Fit Nation leader.

Providing Information

Intake Coordinators travel to workshops and special events to share information on Nenqayni Wellness Centre.

If you have an event planned that you would like us to attend please let us know. We appreciate as much advance notice as possible. Please allow at least 3 weeks notice for booking arrangements.
